Girls now 6-0 in NIAA 2A South League
NEEDLES — Through six games, the Needles High School Lady ’Stangs varsity softball team remain perfect in the NIAA 2A South League.
After polishing off Laughlin on March 19 and Calvary Chapel on March 22, the Lady ’Stangs posted a win against The Meadows Lady Mustangs on March 27 on Nikki Bunch Field. The Lady ’Stangs won the first game of the doubleheader 22-12 and their second game 18-8.
“We played the full seven innings in the first game and five innings the second game,” said Alex Chandler, Lady ’Stangs softball head coach. “The girls came into the game with high energy and hit the ball well and hard.”
During the first game of the encounter, Chandler reported, Riley Breaux hit the cycle (single, double, triple and home run). Chandler reported that Paige Murch hit a two-run home run in the first game.
“Even though we’ve been winning by a large margin, I think that there will be a lot of surprises in our league this year,” said Chandler. “It’s going to be important for our team to remain focused on our goal and to bring it every single game.”
The girls were scheduled to host Mohave Accelerated Learning Center’s Lady Patriots on April 1. Fans get to see a double-doubleheader when the Lady ’Stangs host the Lincoln County Lady Lynx on Friday, April 12. Both the varsity and junior varsity are to play with games beginning at 10 a.m., noon, 2 and 4 p.m.
