A man who has repeatedly been jailed for exposing himself in public pleaded guilty Thursday to the latest charge against him and was released after paying a $50 fine.

Christopher Vincent Sumrell, 27, has been charged with indecent exposure at least nine times since 2011 and has been jailed six times, according to court records.

He was charged again in February with exposing himself at Hot Worx, a hot yoga and pilates studio in the Glenwood South neighborhood. The woman who reported him to police noted that a security camera also captured footage of him masturbating in the sauna.

The charge was initially dismissed because of a paperwork error, but prosecutors refiled it and asked that he remain in jail on a probation violation until the mix-up was resolved.

The maximum penalty for indecent exposure is four months in jail, so Sumrell was sentenced to time served when he pleaded guilty Thursday.

In 2013, Sumrell was accused of exposing himself at William Peace University and at Wake Tech Community College.

In 2016, he was charged with exposing himself at six different stores in the Cary Crossroads shopping center and at a business on Western Boulevard in Raleigh.
