Wagener man missing after truck found ‘on fire,’ police seek community’s help

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is asking the community to help gather information and locate a missing Wagener man.

Investigators responded to the 100 block of North Main Street on Thursday around 8:45 p.m. in reference to a missing man, according to a release.

Family members of 37-year-old William Anderson spoke to police, claiming they last saw Anderson around 7 a.m. Thursday at his North Main Street residence, according to the release.

Around 2 p.m., Anderson’s vehicle, a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was found “wrecked and on fire” in the woodline of Goose Platter Road and Daisy Street, police reported.

Investigators as seeking information on Anderson for his well-being, the release states.

This investigation is still ongoing and information will be released when it becomes available.
