Furman 97, W. Carolina 86

CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) _ Jason Stewart came off the bench to score 29 points, 15 on 3-pointers, to lead Furman to a 97-86 win over Western Carolina Saturday night.

Furman shot 59 percent from the field in the first half to jump out to a 56-44 halftime lead. The Paladins’ shooting went cold in the second half and trailed the Catamounts 86-81 with 3:27 left, but finished the game with a 16-0 scoring run.

Chuck Vincent scored 28 points, including 10 of 13 shots from the floor, and had 13 rebounds for Furman (6-9, 2-1 Southern Conference). Andre Kerr added 12 points and also had 13 rebounds.

The Catamounts (3-10, 0-2) were led by Kevin Kullum’s 22 points. Anquell McCollum added 19.
