State Sen. Napoleon Harris’ brother-in-law slain
CHICAGO (AP) — State Sen. Napoleon Harris’s brother-in-law has been shot and killed in Chicago.
Police spokesman Hector Alfaro says 37-year-old Andre Bunton was hit by at least one bullet while sitting in a car Thursday night.
Harris could not be reached for comment, but his brother Jonathan told the Chicago Sun-Times (http://bit.ly/16QPmvU ) that the senator was devastated.
Bunton was a manager at a pizza restaurant owned by the Harris family.
Jonathan Harris said Bunton was shot near a restaurant where he had dinner with friends.
Napoleon Harris is a former Northwestern and NFL linebacker. The Democrat ran for Jesse Jackson Jr.’s U.S. House seat but dropped out of the race before the primary.
