New flight center at Gary airport aims at corporate travel
GARY, Ind. (AP) — Officials are hoping a new $3 million flight center at the Gary/Chicago International Airport will boost its appeal for corporate flights in the Chicago area.
The new Gary Jet Center facility includes a glass-walled, 45-seat lobby, along with crew lounges, a business center, sleeping rooms and kitchen facilities.
Jet Center president Lynn Eplawy tells The (Northwest Indiana) Times the new facility is aimed at providing a first-class experience for corporate and general aviation customers. The Jet Center provides fueling, maintenance, aircraft management and hospitality services for private and business aviation at the airport.
The flight center completion comes two years after the Gary airport finished a $174 million project that included extending its main runway to nearly 9,000 feet.
