WHAT’S AT STAKE
The top-ranked Seminoles are looking to extend their program-record win streak to 20 games, the longest in the country. FSU is going for a 17th straight win against league opponents, the last loss coming to the Wolfpack in Raleigh two years ago. As for N.C. State, the program has already surpassed last year’s win total and gets its first test after a soft opening schedule.
Florida State’s run defense against N.C. State’s run game. N.C. State has built a productive ground game with a backfield rotation between Shadrach Thornton, Matt Dayes and Tony Creecy — and the team has three straight 200-yard rushing games for the first time since 1994. The Wolfpack must move the ball effectively against a run defense that ranks 79th nationally (170.7 yards) to keep Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston on the FSU sideline.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Florida State: WR Rashad Greene. The senior has been a steady big-play threat for the Seminoles. He had nine catches for 135 yards and a 72-yard score against Clemson last week. Going back to the BCS title game against Auburn, Greene has 33 catches for 565 yards in his last four games.
N.C. State: QB Jacoby Brissett. The Florida transfer’s arrival has steadied a wobbly unit that now leads the league in total offense. Brissett can run or throw, and has a 10:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio this year.
