Sharp-shooting South Eugene defeats Roseburg, 74-36

EUGENE — South Eugene came out strong en route to a 74-36 win over Yoncalla in Tuesday’s Southwest Conference girls basketball game.

The Axe (7-9, 1-1 SWC) scored 33 points in the first quarter, including four 3-pointers, to go up 33-11 after the first quarter and 43-19 by halftime.

“It was unreal,” Roseburg coach Dane Tornell said. “That was some pretty impressive shooting for South.”

South Eugene was led in scoring by Hannah Stein with 13 points, Madison McGowan with 12 points, and Jordan Lee and Taylor Bryant added 10 apiece.

Samie Bergmann scored 10 points to lead Roseburg (2-14, 0-2).

Roseburg will host South Medford on Friday.
