Akron man arrested after shooting wounds 1 in stomach

AKRON, Ohio — Police arrested a 21-year-old man after a shooting early Wednesday in the Summit Lake neighborhood.

Marquise Harris, 21, of Beechwood Avenue, has been charged with felonious assault and is being held in the Summit County Jail, police say.

The shooting was reported at 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Victory and West Long streets. A 43-year-old male tells police he was approached by a man at the intersection and shot in the stomach. The gunman then ran from the scene.

The victim was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital.

Police found Harris at his residence on the 400 block of Beechwood Avenue and he was taken into custody without incident. A handgun was recovered.
