MADISON, Wis. _ The state Claims Board was scheduled Monday to consider a software company’s $14.3 million claim that the Department of Employee Trust Funds breached a contract calling on the developer to update the agency’s retirement benefit system. By Todd Richmond. Developing.

WISCONSIN CASINO EMBEZZLEMENT

MILWAUKEE _ The National Indian Gaming Commission is proposing $5.5 million in fines against the impoverished St. Croix Chippewa tribe for alleged misappropriation of gambling money. The move comes a month after the commission chairman charged the tribe with 527 violations of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, commission regulations and tribal law. TAIWAN-PRESIDENTIAL RACE

TAIPEI, Taiwan _ Terry Gou, head of the world’s largest contract assembler of consumer electronics, stepped closer to running for president of Taiwan on Monday. Gou is chairman of Foxconn, which plans to invest $10 billion in Wisconsin. SENT: 405 words, photos.

MILWAUKEE _ Losing season after losing season made the Milwaukee Bucks an afterthought in Wisconsin, where sports fans consider the Packers kings. The Bucks are in contention just a year after the Brewers came within one game of going to the World Series, shifting the focus of this sports-crazed state from Green Bay Packers to two long-neglected teams in the state’s largest city.
