Booking photo released of man accused of shooting Florence officers
FLORENCE, S.C. – Frederick Hopkins Jr., the 74-year-old man who is accused of shooting seven Florence officers in an ambush Wednesday, is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Columbia.
A booking photo was released late Friday of Hopkins after he was booked at the Florence County Detention Center.
Hopkins spent two days in the hospital after he reportedly fell when he was taken into custody at his residence in an upscale neighborhood in west Florence.
Florence police Sgt. Terrence Carrawy was killed in the incident.
Hopkins was charged Friday with murder and six counts of attempted murder.
Hopkins’ adopted son, Seth Hopkins, 28, was charged Friday with one count of criminal sexual conduct in the second degree. A booking photo of him also has been released.
