November 25, 2018

Christian McDonough scored on runs of 65 and 40 yards to lead Bay Area Christian to its ninth straight win, a 34-14 decision over Texas School for the Deaf in a TAPPS Division III playoff game Saturday in Sealy.

The Broncos (9-3) will next take on Geneva School of Boerne (9-3) in a state semifinal playoff game this week. The winner will play either Flower Mound Coram Deo Academy or Willow Park Trinity Christian for the state championship.

Texas School for the Deaf took an early 6-0 lead, but the Broncos scored 20 straight points to grab a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

BAC tied the game on Andrew Brown’s 1-yard run with 7:59 left in the first quarter before Dalton Chavis scored on a 5-yard run just 20 seconds later following a fumble recovery for a 12-6 Bronco edge.

BAC then stretched the lead to 20-6 when Kaden Hunt caught a 9-yard touchodwn pass from Jackson Collins, and Brown ran for the two-point conversion with 10:09 left in the second period.

After the Rangers cut the lead to 20-14, the Broncos built a 28-14 halftime lead when McDonough scored on his 40-yard burst with 6:07 left in the second period.

McDonough then sprinted 65 yards for a score with 5:31 showing in the fourth quarter for a 34-14 advantage.

Geneva School of Boerne advanced to the state semifinals with a 47-19 win over The Woodlands Christian, a team BAC defeated 14-6 earlier this year.

Geneva School of Boerne takes an eight-game win streak into its matchup with Bay Area Christian.
