Stipe Miocic disrespected again as UFC gives Derrick Lewis title shot

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The UFC continues its streak of overlooking Stipe Miocic.

After setting the record for most Heavyweight Championship defenses, but losing his title to Daniel Cormier in July, Miocic won’t get an immediate rematch.

Instead, the UFC announced Derrick Lewis will challenge Cormier for the heavyweight crown at UFC 230 on Nov. 3. Lewis is one fight removed from his UFC 226 showdown with Francis Ngannou, which many fans consider the worst fight in UFC history.

It was assumed Cormier would wait to defend his title against Brock Lesnar, possibly in January, which is why Miocic wasn’t getting a rematch. However, Lewis is widely considered a much easier fight that wouldn’t disrupt Cormier’s big payday against Lesnar.

As for Miocic, he seems confused by the entire situation too, as you can tell by this tweet.

9 times out of 10 I beat DC. Everyone knows it. DC knows it. No heavyweight has ever accomplished what I have. #HWGOAT pic.twitter.com/ca7DDpHTOK— Stipe Miocic (@stipemiocic) October 9, 2018
