Father of Twins’ McCracken Dies
CHICAGO (AP) _ The father of Twins outfielder Quinton McCracken died after an apparent heart attack at the team’s hotel, where he was staying while Minnesota played the Chicago Cubs.
Herman McCracken died Sunday at 65, Twins spokesman Sean Harlin said. He was in his room when he lost consciousness. Family members and paramedics could not revive him.
Quinton McCracken was to start in center field and bat eighth Sunday. His father and other relatives had traveled from North Carolina to watch the game.
Quinton McCracken was called up by the Twins from Class AAA Edmonton on June 5. He will be allowed to be with his family for as long as he needs. The Twins begin a three-game series Tuesday in Cleveland.
