New seating on way to LACA
The old church pews that had served as audience seating in the performance hall at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts (LACA) were stacked into a corner Wednesday, making room for them to be replaced by upholstered chairs.
During concerts in the performance hall, the pews often made walking across the room difficult, said LACA Director Andy Skinner.
“When I go to a concert, I don’t necessarily want to be sitting down all the time,” he said. “So this will be really nice.”
Unlike the pews, the chairs will be easily moveable and stackable, making it easier for LACA to use the performance hall floor space for different types of events, with varying needs for sitting and standing space, he said.
