Meyersdale school board has vacancy
The Meyersdale school board is looking to fill a vacancy next week.
District business manager Becky Grube said the board held a special meeting Wednesday night to appoint a new member in Region 2, which consists of Summit Township and Garrett Borough.
The vacancy was created earlier this month when board member Bob Donaldson resigned.
Grube said she did not know the reason for Donaldson’s departure.
“I know all of the board members were sad to see him go,” she said.
She said that at Wednesday’s special meeting, one person showed interest in the position.
She didn’t immediately have that person’s name, but she said they are a potential candidate.
“I think (the board) just wanted to make sure everyone is aware of the vacancy before they fill the spot,” she said of why the individual was not appointed.
Anyone interested in the position should attend the board’s next meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Interested candidates need to live in the municipalities included in Region 2. Donaldson was with the board since December, after being elected in November.
Donaldson was serving a four-year term. Attempts to reach him Thursday night were unsuccessful.
