Northeast Georgia city seeks police chief after resignation
DANIELSVILLE, Ga. (AP) — A northeast Georgia city is searching for a new police chief after its chief recently resigned.
The Athens Banner-Herald reports that the city of Danielsville is trying to replace Chief Brenan Baird.
Baird wrote in an Aug. 17 resignation letter that he was stepping down due to “irreconcilable differences” between him and the city council about how the department should be operated.
Baird previously was a longtime member of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department. Danielsville hired him in June 2013 to replace former chief Matt Pilkington, who resigned after two years.
Danielsville is about 85 miles (137 kilometers) northeast of Atlanta.
