INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Liz Johnson and Norman Titus took the second-round leads Monday in the Bowling Proprietors Association of America U.S. Open.

Johnson, who won the Ladies and Legends tournament earlier this year, had a 16-game pinfall total of 3,614 in the women's competition. Titus led the men's division at 3,673.

Carol Norman was second in the women's event at 3,510, followed by Nikki Gianulias (3,449) and Cheryl Daniels (3,439). Jeff Lizzi was second in the men's division at 3,649, followed by defending champion Dave Husted (3,625) and Walter Ray Williams Jr. (3,614).

The field will be cut to the top 60 after Tuesday night's third round of qualifying. After 24 games of match play Wednesday and Thursday, the top four will advance to Friday night's stepladder finals at Market Square Arena.
