DEKALB, Ill. (AP) _ Ronald Minter made four free throws in the final six seconds as Northern Illinois beat Loyola of Chicago 65-62 in overtime in a Midwestern Collegiate Conference game Thursday.

Vaurice Patterson led the Huskies (8-3 overall, 1-0 Midwestern Collegiate) with 14 points as they won their seventh-straight game. Northern Illinois led by as many as eight points in the first half, but Loyola trimmed the lead to 21-19 by halftime.

There were five ties and six lead changes in the second half, which ended with the teams tied 53-53.

The Ramblers (3-7, 0-1) took a 62-61 lead with two free throws by Donyale Bush with 13.8 seconds left in overtime. But Minter, who scored seven of his 13 points in overtime, made two free throws to give the Huskies the lead. After a Loyola turnover, two more free throws by Minter sealed the win.

Derek Molis led Loyola with 16 points.
