SEATTLE (AP) _ A teen-ager who fathered two children with former teacher Mary Kay Letourneau has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of attempting to steal a car.

Vili Fualaau, 17, was sentenced Tuesday to six months of probation and 16 hours of community service, which could include counseling. He must also pay a $100 fine.

Fualaau had pleaded innocent earlier to car theft after being arrested July 4. According to court papers, he was riding in a stolen red Honda that witnesses said was being driven recklessly through the Seattle area.

In a highly publicized case, Fualaau fathered two children with Letourneau, his former teacher who is serving a seven-year, five-month prison sentence for second-degree child rape.
