Mets’ Leiter Undergoes MRI
CINCINNATI (AP) _ Mets left-hander Al Leiter was sent back to New York on Saturday to undergo tests on his bothersome pitching elbow.
Leiter, who has flexor tendinitis in his left elbow, underwent an MRI at New York University Medical Center.
Leiter, who is 0-3 with a 5.87 ERA this season, is tentatively scheduled to start next Saturday in St. Louis, giving him seven days of rest.
Leiter, 35, gave up eight runs _ tying his career high _ on six hits and two hit batsmen in three innings on Friday night.
