OXFORD, Miss. (AP) _ Charlotte Banks scored a team-high 17 points as fifth-ranked Mississippi defeated Southern University 82-48 Wednesday night.

The Lady Rebels (21-1 and 7-0 in the Southeastern Conference) extended their winning streak to 19 games - the second longest in school history.

Southern fell to 13-10.

Ole Miss trailed just once at 2-0, but controlled the remainder of the contest. The Lady Rebels pushed their lead to as many as 40 points late in the second half, despite Donna Washington’s game-high 18 points for the Lady Jaguars.

Washington also pulled down 17 rebounds for Southern, but Ole Miss outrebounded the visitors 52-35.

Kim Gilchrist, the nation’s leading three-point shooter at 60 percent, hit two of four from long-range and finished with 12 points for Ole Miss. Clara Jackson added 11, and every Lady Rebel scored.
