Former bank exec facing prison time for child porn
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — Authorities say a former northern Virginia bank executive has pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography.
Thirty-nine-year-old Jon T. Wilkins of Arlington pleaded guilty Friday to knowingly receiving child pornography. He faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and a maximum 20 years behind bars. Sentencing is set for April 5.
Prosecutors say Wilkins used computers at his home to access the dark web in order to visit a child porn website called Playpen.
Wilkin browsed dozens of threads featuring children being sexually abused, and hundreds of images of child pornography were found on his computers.
Authorities say Wilkins attempted to conceal his illegal behavior by utilizing Tor, a special web browser that permits access to the dark web while hiding browsing activity.
