MBU men breeze by Dayspring Bible

Senior point guard Jonathan Book led all scorers with 19 points and the Maranatha Baptist University men’s basketball team defeated visiting Dayspring Bible College 71-53 on Parents’ Day Saturday to close out the regular season.

Maranatha (13-9) jumped out a nine-point halftime lead and reserve Justin Blake notched 11 points and had 10 rebounds.

The Sabercats shot 4-of-16 from beyond the arc but held Dayspring Bible (3-8) to 25 percent shooting from the field.

Maranatha, winners of three straight games, awaits its seeding for the NCCAA North Region Tournament to be played at Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque, Iowa on Thursday-Saturday.
