XGR--ILLINOIS LEGISLATURE

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. _ The Illinois legislature is in session Tuesday as lawmakers consider issues before the General Assembly’s Friday adjournment. The AP is monitoring legislative action and plans stories on merits. Developing from 9 a.m. CT House session and 12 p.m. CT Senate session.

XGR--ILLINOIS-GRADUATED INCOME TAX

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. _ Voters will decide whether to change Illinois’ income-tax structure after the House approved a constitutional amendment on Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s graduated tax proposal. The House voted 73-44 Monday to put the question on the November 2020 ballot. Approval would mean eliminating the current flat-rate tax of 4.95% for higher rates on wealthier tax-filers. —METRA-PARKING: A Chicago suburb is offering commuters the chance to get prime parking at its Metra station at a cost of $1,200 per year.

—STRAITS OF MACKINAC-WORKSHOP: The U.S. Coast Guard is looking for volunteers to help assess environmental and navigation hazards in the Straits of Mackinac, the channel that links lakes Huron and Michigan.
