STAMFORD — City police are investigating the death of an infant whose mother found her not breathing early Monday morning.
Lt Tom Barcello said the mother of the three-week-old girl called 911about 2:30 a.m. Monday.
Barcello said crime scene investigators and a sergeant from the department’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations were dispatched to a residential complex on Morgan Street.
Barcello said an autopsy will be performed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington. The autopsy should reveal the cause and manner of death in order to determine whether the death has any criminal aspect to it.
Barcello was unsure if the mother was sleeping with the baby. The woman said the baby was fine about an hour earlier when she checked on her.
Police are withholding the baby’s name until relatives are notified.
