MONROE, La. (AP) _ Cory Babineaux kicked a 29-yard field goal in the second overtime Saturday to give Northeast Louisiana a 31-28 victory over Jacksonville State.

Travis Singleton intercepted Montressa Kirby’s pass in the end zone on the second overtime possession for Jacksonville (1-9), setting up the game-winning possession for Northeast Louisiana (5-5).

Earlier in that series, Mel Conway blocked a 44-yard field goal attempt by Shane Seamons, but a face-mask penalty gave Jacksonville a first down at the Northeast Louisiana 16.

After Singleton’s interception, Northeast Louisiana moved to the 12 in five plays before turning the game over to Babineaux.

In the first overtime, Northeast got a TD on a 16-yard run by Marquis Williams, who had 155 yards and two scores on 30 carries. Jacksonville tied the game at 28-28 on Amel Jackson’s 8-yard run.

Kirby finished with 164 yards on 24 carries, and completed 8-of-17 passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns.

Northeast’s Raymond Philyaw completed 11-of-30 passes for 207 yards, and threw touchdowns of 25 yards to Chris Spencer and 20 yards to Eric Jones. Philyaw has 50 career touchdown passes, one short of the school record.
