Kankakee Valley Garden Club to meet

The Kankakee Valley Garden Club will be meeting for a tour from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Woldhuis Farms Sunrise Greenhouse in Grant Park. Melody Orth and Donna Tanner are the hostesses.

The Kankakee Valley Civil War Roundtable will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. April 3 at the Bradley Public Library. Bruce Allardice, professor of history at South Suburban College, will cover the diary of Charles Gunther, of Chicago candy fame, while he was trapped in the Confederacy.

The Kankakee Public Library, 201 E. Merchant St., Kankakee, will host Soul Collections at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. This group reviews a book that specifically spotlights African-American authors and themes. March’s selection is “Sunday Brunch,” written by Norma L. Jarett. The Limestone Township Library District, 2701 W. Tower Road, Kankakee, is hosting the following events:

• Family movie-dinner night: 4:15 p.m. Friday. A fun night out with the family and join the library for a movie and dinner. “Spiderman: Into the Spider-verse” is being shown. There is no fee for this program.

• Optical illusion art: 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday. Led by Elena Turrell, children in third through eighth grade can learn new tricks with their pencils and paper. There is no fee for this program, and all supplies are provided.
