Police chase suspect caught
A woman was in serious condition after her vehicle was struck by a chase suspect caught early today, Fort Wayne police said.
An officer saw a vehicle cross the center line and drive in the wrong direction near Broadway and Creighton Avenue about 12:11 a.m., according to a news release.
The man behind the wheel of the vehicle refused to stop for police and led them on a 16-minute chase that ended at a house in the 1300 block of West Washington Boulevard.
While traveling south on Nelson Street the suspect’s vehicle hit a woman motorist driving west on West Washington, police said.
She was in serious condition at a local hospital, complaining of head and neck pain. The suspect was taken to a hospital also in serious condition, but was upgraded to good condition.
Police said there was an existing warrant for the man’s arrest and the incident remains under investigation.
