Stone, Neighbor in Disagreement
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Sharon Stone and her husband are fighting a neighbor’s construction plans, which they say will block their view of Golden Gate Bridge _ a disagreement with hints of an old publishing rivalry.
Stone’s husband, Phil Bronstein, is executive editor of the San Francisco Examiner. The neighbor, Candyce Martin, is a great-granddaughter of San Francisco Chronicle founder Michael de Young.
Martin is planning a 1,300-square-foot addition to her home in the posh Sea Cliff neighborhood. Through architect Michael Rex, Bronstein and Stone asked the city Planning Commission either to reject Martin’s project or require that it be redesigned.
Rex said Martin’s extension would ``forever obstruct important views enjoyed by the Bronsteins and their neighbors, as well as seriously compromise the Bronsteins’ privacy.″
The issue is to be heard May 6.
