STRATFORD Downtown Market event set for Sunday
STRATFORD — The third annual Downtown Market, featuring more than 55 local and regional artists, craft makers, photographers, weavers and other artistic talent, will take place Sunday, August 26, both on Main Street and in the parking lot of the Colonial Square mall.
Set to take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event will also feature food booths and trucks featuring a variety of ethnic fare, according to event organizer Neil Sherman. The event is sponsored by the town and its Arts and Economic Development commissions.
“We’ll have live music, a Judo exhibition by Hwang’s Judo, a booth providing face painting for children and unusual crafts and jewelry,” Sherman said.
Officials say that Main Street will remain open to traffic during the festivities. Parking will be available in the Metro North parking lots on both sides on the tracks.
“What our region has yet to discover is that Stratford offers a strong and growing ‘foodie’ culture,” said Mary Dean, the town’s economic development director. “Two Roads Brewery has put us on the map and we’re watching a growing ethnic food restaurant community evolve.”
