Police: Woman who ran over man in McKeesport was aiming for someone else
The woman who ran over a 72-year-old man early Thursday in McKeesport was aiming for someone else, according to police.
Local police patrolling near the Harrison Village housing complex in McKeesport heard gunshots about 2:45 a.m. and responded to the area, said Allegheny County police Lt. Andrew Schurman.
Police arrived and saw a white Chevrolet Impala fleeing the scene, Schurman said. Officers stopped the Impala and detained its driver, Jakiia Williams.
Williams, 32, of McKeesport was charged attempted homicide, assault, driving while drunk and several other crimes, according to court documents.
Investigators said Williams had just run over a man, who was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was last listed in critical condition, Schurman said.
Police allege Williams had been involved in an argument before she got in her car and tried to run down that person with her car. Schurman said she missed that person but struck the 72-year-old man, who was on the sidewalk.
While that was happening, Schurman said, someone fired a gun, presumably at the Impala, he said. No ballistic evidence was found at the scene.
Williams was arrested and taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
