Police release name of 82-year-old Orem man killed in crosswalk
The Provo Police Department released the name of the man who died while walking along a crosswalk in Provo Wednesday afternoon.
Rodolfo Blanco, 82, of Orem, was struck by a car headed northbound at 12:50 p.m. on State Street near the intersection of Riverside Ave.
The man was crossing the street at the crosswalk and died from his injuries at the scene, said Lt. Brian Taylor, public information officer for the department.
Investigators are still determining the cause of the accident, and the Utah County Attorney’s Office is investigating appropriate charges.
The driver did not suffer any injuries in the crash.
There were no obvious traffic violations that caused the crash, such as speeding, running a red light or intoxication, Taylor said.
“We extend our sincere condolences to Mr. Blanco’s family,” the Provo Police Department posted on social media. “We remind drivers to slow down, be alert, and focus on the road.”
