Lady ’Stangs shut out White Pine for state championship

Robin RichardsMay 19, 2019

NEEDLES — It’s been Paige Murch’s year on the NIAA 2A softball circuit; a point the Lady ’Stangs’ only pitcher emphasized when she applied the coup de gras to White Pine in the championship game: a walk-off 3-run home run in the fifth that earned Needles the state crown 11-0.

Needles High School Athletic Director Bill Darrow reported that was Murch’s second home run in the championship game this morning; and that she had struck out the side yesterday to get there.

It’s likely the traditional police escort to return the new state champions to Needles High School will be held sometime this afternoon, Darrow confirmed.
