Columbus Police arrest suspect in hit and run

Columbus Police arrested a 43-year-old Columbus man Friday morning who is suspected in a hit and run that caused injuries.

According to a press release, Anthony W. Dorsey could face felony charges of hit and run causing injury and second degree recklessly endangering safety. A search of online court records did not indicate any charges had been filed as of Friday night.

According to a press release, a car was being backed out of a parking stall Tuesday at 12:19 p.m. that day and struck a car traveling west on West James Street. The car then fled the area at a high rate of speed, coming very close to striking a pedestrian crossing the street in the 400 block of South Ludington Street while in a crosswalk.

Police reported after the crash that they were looking for an older tan Buick 4-door car that was missing the front, left hubcap.

Dorsey was taken into custody at 5:37 a.m. short distance outside the city of Columbus with the assistance of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and Beaver Dam Police Department K9 unit. A search warrant was issued for Dorsey’s garage were police located the suspect vehicle which was found to have damage consistent with the collision.
