Elyria fire department investigating car found overturned in the Black River

ELYRIA, Ohio -- A car was found Wednesday afternoon in the Black River near an Elyria golf course, according to an Elyria fire department spokesman.

Fire officials responded to the scene near West River Run North and Ford Road and are investigating how the car got in the river, including whether it was driven off a nearby cliff, the spokesman said.

The fire department initially said there were two vehicles in the river, but then could only confirm one and said the report of the second might have just been parts from the first.

Golfers at the 13th hole of the Valley of the Eagles golf course saw the car on its roof in the river.
