ALMERIA, Spain (AP) _ A convent of cloistered nuns won a lawsuit Friday against the archdiocese of Almeria, halting construction of a residence for priests with windows overlooking the sisters' courtyard.

The nuns of the Las Puras Order argued the building going up next to their convent infringed on their privacy and violated zoning rules in the southern Spanish city, their attorney Juan Manuel Rodriguez said.

An Almeria court ruled the priests' residence violated zoning regulations that require it to be at least 10 feet from the convent if it has windows facing the older building.
