SCOTTSBLUFF — West Nebraska Arts Center is pleased to present a call for artist for the Creative Pages Art Exhibit in the Bronson Gallery. The Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment sponsor this gallery exhibit. Entries received January 22–27, 2019. The Creative Pages Art Exhibit will be on display at WNAC January 31–March 31, 2019. An opening reception will be held Thursday, January 31 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with hors d’ oeuvres and refreshments. Free and open to everyone of all ages.

“This is a new exhibit,” said WNAC Program Manager Maria Lena Medina. “Art comes in many forms and we look forward to seeing what artists create.”

Creative Pages is a group, non-juried exhibit open to one and two-page scrapbooks, scrapbooks, art journals, altered art books, and cards (notecards, ATC-artist trading cards, etc.). There are six categories in this exhibit.

Scrapbooking, one-page and two-page scrapbooks are focused on collation and presentation of memories, photos, memorabilia, journaling, and embellishments using creative techniques to enhance these, to preserve memories for future generations and to exercise your creativity as you display our memories.

Art journaling is focused on the creation of a visual journal or diary using your artistic skills and techniques. Physical form to your thoughts, expectations and dreams, realities and events, everyday events and exceptional occasions. It can include memories, personal reflections, philosophies or observations. It’s for all sides of yourself. Anything and everything goes: painting, drawing, pen and ink, doodling and noodling, stamping, photos, and collage.

Altered Art book is a form of mixed media artwork that changes a book from its original form into a different form, altering its appearance &/or meaning. An altered book artist takes a book (old, new, recycled or multiple) and cuts, tears, glues, burns, folds, paints, adds to, collages, rebinds, gold-leaf, creates pop-ups, rubber-stamps, drills, and bolts.

Cards can be notecards that you create with any type of medium and any size you want, ATC - Artist Trading Cards are tiny 2.5”X3.5”, original piece of art created with the intention of swapping or trading it with another artist, not selling it. The back usually contains artist information. ACEOs - Art Cards, Editions, & Originals are ATCs with the intention of selling. These all can be created with any type of medium.

You may submit up to 3 entries to hang in the Bronson Gallery. Separate from the art exhibit we will also accept art journals, books and cards to sell in the Bronson Gallery gift shop with an inventory.

Creative Pages will open with a reception on Thursday, January 31, with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will continue in the Bronson Gallery through March 31, 2019.

Creative Pages is an open exhibit. We will include as much artwork as our gallery space is able to accommodate.
