Huntington St. Joe had goals from Abby Lee, McKenzie Moran and Abi Hugh to take a 3-1 Bishop’s Cup semifinal win over Wheeling Central Catholic on Friday at Wellsburg.

Samantha Richbart also had eight saves in the win that moved the Fighting Irish (7-1) into Saturday’s Bishop’s Cup final.

IRONTON - Emma Whaley’s hat trick lifted Ironton St. Joe (4-2) to a 4-3 triumph over Fairland Thursday in girls high school soccer.

Whaley broke a 3-3 tie with a goal with 22 seconds remaining to set the score. Laiken Unger scored the Flyers’ other goal. Maddie Miller scored twice and Mackenzie Kazee once for the Dragons.

SOUTH POINT 2, MINFORD 1: The Pointers (4-2) rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat the Falcons (2-4).

Megan Johnson gave Minford a 1-0 lead two minutes into the second half, but Emilee Whitt scored off a pass from Neele Bennje to tie it. Kylee Ellison scored the game-winning goal off an assist by Whitt in the 62nd minute. Goalkeeper Katie Lester made seven saves for South Point.

GALLIA ACADEMY 1, ROCK HILL 0: Kyrsten Sanders scored at 35:31 of the first half to give the Blue Angels a victory over the Redwomen in Centenary, Ohio. Alexis Nickels earned the shutout with two saves.


MINFORD 0, SOUTH POINT 0: Jaylon Halfhill made 12 saves for the Pointers (2-1-2) in the scoreless tie with the Falcons (4-0-2). Luke Montavon saved seven shots for Minford.

POINT PLEASANT 4, LINCOLN COUNTY 0: The Big Blacks (8-0-1) shut out the Panthers (7-1) in a battle of Class AA unbeaten top-10 teams.

Albert Castillo scored off an assist by Garrett Hatten at 19:21 to give eighth-ranked Point Pleasant the only goal it needed. Adam Veroski scored the next two goals, the second off a Castillo assist, and Castillo ended the scoring with a goal off an assist by Braxton Watkins-Lovejoy. Nick Smith earned the shutout in goal.

ROCK HILL 3, GALLIA ACADEMY 2: The Redmen (5-0-1 overall, 3-0-2 Ohio Valley Conference) outscored the Blue Devils 2-1 in the second half to emerge victorious in Centenary, Ohio.

Rock Hill’s Victor Aguilera and Gallia Academy’s Brody Wilt exchange goals in the first half. Jasson Aguilera scored at 52:52 to give the Redmen the lead. Jake Blagg’s penalty kick at 63:07 made it 3-1. Pedro Herrera scored with 7 minutes left to set the score. Kaleb Kidd made 12 saves for Rock Hill. Andrew Toller stopped eight shots for the Blue Devils (3-1-1, 1-1-1).

PORTSMOUTH 3, PIKETON 2: MyQuel McKinley scored two goals and Gage Mosely one

Thursday night as the Trojans defeated the Red Streaks.

The victory was the first for Portsmouth since 2004, the last year the Trojans fielded a soccer team before this season.
