Joe Wilson wins congressional race, Associated Press says
U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., has secured himself another term in Congress. The Associated Press called his election win around 9:35 p.m. Tuesday.
Wilson will continue to represent South Carolina’s 2nd Congressional District.
Wilson has served nearly two decades on the Hill.
As of 8:38 p.m. and with about half the Aiken County precincts reporting, Wilson had secured 63.76 percent of the county vote. Democrat Sean Carrigan had secured 35.2 percent of the county vote. The American Party’s Sonny Narang secured less than 1 percent of the county vote.
Wilson had no primary challenger.
Prior to being elected to the U.S. House, Wilson served in the S.C. Senate.
