WINTRY WEATHER

A pre-winter storm slammed parts of the South and lower Midwest, causing five deaths on slippery roads and stranding travelers for more than eight hours on an icy Arkansas interstate. The wintry weather was barreling eastward Thursday, with snow and ice expected from Ohio and the Appalachian Mountains through Washington, D.C., New York and New England. SENT: 450 words. ELECTION 2018-RHODE ISLAND-NO VOTERS: A polling place that Rhode Island elections officials initially said did not get a single voter during the midterm elections did get one voter after all. SENT.

— ONSHORE WIND FARM: An onshore wind farm that will have the most operational capacity in Rhode Island is expected to come online by the end of the year. SENT.

— TRACTOR-TRAILER DRIVER KILLED: Police have released the name of the tractor-trailer driver from Providence killed in a crash on Interstate 95 in Connecticut. SENT.

— BRIDGE BIKE PATHS: The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority is considering adding a bike path and an observation deck to the Pell Bridge. SENT.

— CHRISTMAS TREE SEARCH: The Providence Department of Art, Culture and Tourism is asking residents to nominate their evergreen trees for consideration as the centerpiece of City Hall’s annual tree-lighting ceremony. SENT.

— FREE RIDES: Mothers Against Drunk Driving and ride-hailing company Uber have partnered to offer free rides in the greater Boston area and Rhode Island on the day before Thanksgiving. SENT.

Last season, Tom Brady became the oldest player in NFL history to earn regular-season MVP honors when he did it at the age of 40. But just a year later, he finds himself in the throes of some of his worst passing numbers in three seasons as the Patriots head into their bye week.
