COLLEGE ROUNDUP Fairfield men, women win
Landon Taliaferro netted eight 3-point field goals on his way to a game-high 26 points as the Fairfield men’s basketball team defeated Manhattan 72-59 Sunday at Alumni Hall.
Matija Milin also had double figures for the Stags (8-20) with 14 points. Taj Benning had a game-high five assists in the win and also tied for the team lead with Milin and Jonathan Kasibabu at four rebounds apiece.
FAIRFIELD — Khadidiatou Diouf had a double-double with 19 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Fairfield women’s basketball team to a 67-56 win over Iona at Alumni Hall.
Casey Foley added 16 points and Katie Armstrong chipped in with 11. Foley also led the Stags (10-18) with six assists and three steals, to go along with seven rebounds.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The University of Bridgeport fell behind 7-0 and its rally came up short in a 7-6 loss to Dominican (N.Y.) in the final game of a road trip.
Alex Rauso, of Trumbull, had three hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs for the Purple Knights (0-4). Bobby Pollock had two hits and two RBI and Vincent DeRubeis, of Trumbull, and Alex Martinez knocked in the other UB runs.
