VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ Canucks forward Andrew Cassels will be sidelined for up to six weeks with a broken big toe on his right foot.

He was hit by a shot Saturday from Al MacInnis of St. Louis. Cassels returned to the game, then sat out the Canucks' game Monday in Dallas. He was surprised when doctors told him on Wednesday how long he could be out of action.

``I didn't think it was going to be anywhere near that long _ maybe a week _ but it's just one of those things that will take a while to heal,'' Cassels said. ``For how small the bones are, it's pretty painful.''

Cassels is second on the team with 45 points, and his 35 assists place him seventh in the NHL. Besides his regular shift on the top line between Markus Naslund and Todd Bertuzzi, Cassels works regularly in penalty killing situations and plays the point on the Vancouver power play.
