Officials identify victims from helicopter crash near Alpine
The Utah County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the two people killed when their helicopter crashed on Lone Peak north of Alpine on Friday.
The pilot was Benno Anthony Penna, 32, and the passenger was his wife, Megan Michele Hawk Penna, 32, according to a Sunday press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
They are survived by a 6-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter.
The Pennas’ helicopter reportedly took off from a private residence in Ballard near Roosevelt in Uintah County to head to South Valley Regional Airport in West Jordan, about 110 miles away. When the helicopter missed its 2 p.m. arrival time, family members called officials.
