Pirates’ Ramirez Injures Ankle
PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Aramis Ramirez bruised his left ankle fouling off a pitch Saturday night and might be out for a couple of games.
Ramirez, who was lifted in the sixth inning, had considerable swelling in the ankle after the game and is listed as day to day. X-rays were negative.
Given the nature of the injury, it seemed unlikely Ramirez would be ready to play Sunday against Milwaukee. The Pirates remain in Pittsburgh to play the Astros on Monday and Tuesday.
Despite a slow start this season, Ramirez is the Pirates’ top run producer with 65 RBIs. He is hitting .280 with 11 homers and is on pace for his second 100-RBI season in three years.
