Lowell Students Take LEGO Robots ‘into Orbit’

LOWELL -- Lowell Public Schools recently hosted their third LEGO Robotics Expo at Lowell High School.

The expo highlights students from the city’s elementary and middle schools, and is run by LHS students who are members of the FIRST LEGO team.

More than 100 students participated in the after-school robotics clubs at various schools and at St. Michael’s School.

As a result, more than 22 teams participated in the Expo, displaying their projects relating to the LEGO Robotic Challenges.

Elementary students tackled the “Moon Mission” challenge, while middle-schoolers took on “Into Orbit.

As a result of the continued support of Merrimack Valley Robotics Inc., all participating schools are provided loaner LEGO kits and are registered to engage in the challenges presented by FIRST LEGO League and FIRST LEGO League Jr.

A second expo is planned for May.
