Road Warriors: Pelham Continues to Roll
The Pelham High field hockey team is weary from playing four straight road games, but the Pythons aren’t tired of winning, as they showed Wednesday in a 1-0 win over Sanborn Regional.
Other local winners were Wilmington, Bishop Guertin and Central Catholic.
Abby Bevens scored the lone goal for Pelham (7-1), assisted by Gwen Dhalinger. Goalie Ryan Atkins made 2 saves to post the shutout. Pelham put 12 shots on goal.
Pelham has two more road games before finally returning home.
The Wildcats evened their record to 4-4 on the season behind goals from Gianna Zaccagnini and Chase Andersen.
Senior captain Molly Foley had an outstanding game, especially in the first half.
Noelle St. Germain scored both goals for the Crusaders but that wasn’t enough in this back-and-forth contest. Hannah Bowman and Heather Carroll picked up solo assists.
Goalie Anne Madden had a strong game with 15 saves.
Bishop Guertin 3
Scoring goals for BG were Brooke Yabroudy, Emily Foltan and Kennedy Wright, coming in the ninth minute of the second half, while assists went to Lindsay Hult, Sarah Coyle and Emily Lisi.
Monina Tosi made 3 saves in the net to earn the win.
North Middlesex 2
The Patriots were on their way to a Mid-Wach victory when host Quabbin scored with four minutes left in Barre.
North Middlesex (4-2-2) led 2-0 at halftime, with both goals coming from Megan McCarthy.
Central Catholic 3
Emma Bouley scored the lone goal for the Lions, as they fell to CC in a MVC contest. Morgan Wright made 5 saves for Chelmsford, while Sydney Alto and Clare O’Neil played well defensively.
Despite putting 22 shots on goal, the Tigers were shut out to fall to 5-1-2 overall.
Molly Magnette, Valerie Crory and Emma Beers played well offensively.
Meanwhile, Meghan Gibbons was strong in the back in front of goalie Julia Cochran, who made 10 saves.
