Stoll, Huntington boys upset Hurricane 4-2

HUNTINGTON — Owen Stoll scored two goals to lead Huntington High to a 4-2 upset of defending Class AAA state champion Hurricane Saturday night.

Sal Saulle and Foster Jones also scored for the Highlanders (7-3-1).

For Hurricane (8-2), Ryan Fisher scored on a penalty kick and Alik Assi scored on an assist from Fisher.

WINFIELD 13, POCA 0: Evan McCray scored four goals and assisted on four others to lead the Generals to a rout of the Dots.

Jackson Zulauf and Andrew Clark added two goals apiece and Dylan Pence, Coen Preston, Jonathan Warner, Ryan Shrewsbury and Rucker Smith also scored for Winfield. Nathan Lanham had the shutout in goal for the Generals.


SOUTH POINT: The Pointers are 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference after splitting two matches last week.

Gallia Academy defeated South Point, 1-0, with a second-half goal from Sarah Watts and shutout goaltending by Alexis Nickels. South Point won at West Carter, 4-3, with goals from Sarah Roach, Delaney Dickess, Emilee Whitt and Aysiah Sharp.

IRONTON ST. JOE 8, PORTSMOUTH WEST 0: Emma Whaley scored three goals and two assists as the Flyers overwhelmed the Senators in West Portsmouth, Ohio.

Bella Whaley scored two goals and Kerri Jenkins, Lydia Sheridan and Isabella Griffiths chipped in one apiece.
