Man convicted of child rape gets up to 35 years in prison
FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts man convicted of sexually assaulting a pre-teen female relative on a daily basis for about two years has been sentenced to up to 35 years in prison.
The Bristol district attorney’s office announced Monday that 30-year-old Daniel Viveiros, of Somerset, was sentenced Friday. He was convicted by a Fall River Superior Court jury on July 18 of multiple charges, including four counts of aggravated statutory rape.
Authorities say Viveiros was living with the victim and her mother at the time, first in a home in New Bedford and then in a home in Swansea.
Following his prison term, Viveiros will serve 10 years of probation. He must also register as a sex offender and get sex offender treatment.
