Monroe County Man Charged In Attempted Kidnapping Of Girl, 11
A 55-year-old Monroe County man tried to kidnap an 11-year-old girl from her home early this morning in Cresco, police said. Dudley Robinson, of Cresco, was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping of a minor, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, interference with the custody of a child, luring a child into a motor vehicle, concealment of the whereabouts of a child, reckless endangerment and simple assault. Magisterial District Judge Phillip R. Riley arraigned him this afternoon and remanded him to jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. Pocono Mountain Regional Police said Robinson is familiar with the family of the victim because he lives in their basement on Naomi Lane. At 3 a.m., the parents of the child awoke to her screaming “stop it” and “help,” police said. They found Robinson dragging her to the front door by her neck and forcing her into a van. The parents tried to stop him. Robinson put the van into reverse to get out of the driveway and backed into a tree, dragging the parents along with him. The collision disabled the van. Robinson said he was done and went onto the porch with a handgun. Police said that he was threatening suicide. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Sept. 6. Check back for updates.
